Curated list of books and videos which inspire

As I am moving on from the current organisation, I was asked by the colleagues to create a list of resources I either shared with them or I found inspirational and useful, but haven’t shared yet.

Bear in mind, the list presented below is far from comprehensive and even though resources I mention can help with personal development, team work, product management or organisation design, it does not aspire to be even close complete in any of the mentioned areas. It’s job is to inform and inspire and it’s valuable because it’s curated.

It was difficult to organise the resources based on roles which would benefit from it or based on topics the list covers as there is a lot of overlap and cross reference in presented material. I chose to organise the list based on complexity — how many people are required to collaborate to introduce the concepts described in the resource. Starting from things people can do themselves or on a team level and nobody should complain, moving to things that need to be understood and supported by wider group to deliver benefits — most likely for senior managers on portfolio or C-level.

I decided to keep adding commentary next to the entries. It’s a time consuming process and I am not fully convinced it provides you value, so please leave a comment or a clap if you are finding it useful.

Forget feedback sandwich, feedback wraps and other fake, b***t approaches to communicating with people about sensitive topics. This book describes approaches which helped me resolve dozens of problems without damaging relationships I had or wanted to build with other people. Tool that can be used in both personal and professional life.

Book which describes set of tools and games which could be used in several areas of facilitation. Helps to understand group dynamics, design workshops with good flow between its elements and provides practical advice on how to prepare for running them.

Contains surprising truth about how our brains are protecting us from feeling bad about ourselves and uncovers internal narration patterns we constantly go through in our minds. Most likely you won’t feel good about yourself reading this book, but it has a power of removing the blind and enabling new levels of relationships, team work and leadership. I found myself re-reading it every couple of months as the brain never stops…

This book can help you understand how to utilise purely your brain power to help others find answers and motivation to change within themselves.
